Free Will in today's society and $1.9bn wasted

Let's explore the concept of free will, personal choice or agency to use the modern vernacular. Why is it the bad guy in the movies who's spent half their adult life behind bars is so buff? Occupational hazards require it to be so you may think or is it something that can't be seen? This is were free will enters the picture..

8 hours a day behind a desk, 2+ hrs commute, meal preparation, your favourite TV show, a smart phone insidiously drawing you back in will eat away at all the free will you have stored away for the day. Any parents with young children will tell you their time isn't their own any more and all their free will has left them by the time the goodbye wave has finished at the school gates.

And this is were home fitness comes in, with all that goes on in our busy lives why not cut down on the extra expense of a gym membership debiting money out of your account every month? Why not save time on an extra commute rather than walking to your garage or exercise space? No waiting around for weights or machines for someone else to finish using them, you decide when it happens. For sure there's a start up cost but how much does it save in the long run? According to a 2023 Finder survey, nearly 17%, 1 in 5 people with a gym membership admitted they never use it, resulting in $1.9bn wasted annually. Some food for thought..

In our next post we will explore what tricks you can use to help you maintain good habits, cement your free will and reach your fitness goals.
